Vrnjacka Banja as the biggest and the best known spa in Yugoslavia with a variety of possibilities for medical treatment is a traditionally attractive tourist resort and a center or recreation. It is situated in central Serbia at a distance of 200 km south of Belgrade and 20 km east of Kraljevo. Being located nearby the motorway and the railway along the valley of the West Morava, which are connected with the major highways of the Balkans: Belgrade - Sophia and Belgrade - Athens, Vrnjacka Banja is well connected with all parts of Serbia through main and local traffic network, as well as with its forested - mountainous hinterland that stands for a divine and well preserved countryside. This area encompasses high rnountains as: Kopaonik (2017m), Zeljin (1785m), Stolovi (1376m) and Goc (1216 m), which is considered an extremely pleasant mountain in the vicinity of Vrnjacka Banja. Mild continental climate and the influence of the nearby mountains, add up special effect to the micro climate of Vrnjacka Banja, enhancing it with special pleasure. Warm summers with fresh mornings and early evenings as well as snowy winters with mild frost, reach average temperatures of 10.5°C per year and average summer temperature of 20°C. Vrnjacka Banja has a lasting tradition in medical treatment. It is exactly on this spot of hot mineral spring of Vrnjci that the Romans had built their center for medical treatment and rehabilitation AQUAE ORCINAE in the period between II and IV centuries.
