:: Methods of Development Flexibility: Method Pilates; Stretching and Relaxation :: Workshop will take place from 03.09. until 04.09.2004. :: Workshop tutor Dr Katarina Herodek Pilates Method In 1920, German Joseph Pilat, famous trainer and instructor of self-difence, has put bases of new technique, composing streching and yoga with elements of "western" gymnastics dinamic type. This method arrived in Europe in 1960. and technique proceed to develop consistent basic principle: exerciser is "master" of his body and spirit. Respiration and sequence of exercises give cooperation between spirit and body. This system requires precise movements, development strenght of whole body without increasing muscle mass. Therefore, this system is antithesis to traditional body-building method. At first this method was used by professional dancers and ballet dancers whose wish to recover after injuries, especially back muscles, quickly and successful. The Pilates method is not just exercise, it is a combination of physical and mental which results in harmonious moves, well pose, muscle tons and prevention pain diagnostic owing to bad body pose and joint injuries. This system is performed by the body itselfand with specially designed apparatus. |
